De-Musking Complete
Thursday, I sold my Telsa Model S. I bought it ten years ago, in the summer of 2013. I loved it for many years. It was cool, innovative, and fast. The service, at first, was awesome — white glove — was a big jump for me after having a Honda Civic for many years. But, as Teslas became more popular and the Model 3 was released, the service deteriorated. It became very evident Tesla wasn’t customer-oriented or friendly. And in the last few years, the car had an increasing number of issues, which can be the case with any older car, but resolving them with Tesla was extremely frustrating.
My challenges with the car and its service aligned with the escalating annoyingness of Elon Musk. He is very toxic, and I don’t want to support his antics. So, at the beginning of the year, I committed to De-Musking in 2023, and now I’m done. The Twitter accounts are deleted, and the Tesla is sold. It all feels good.
We’ll see where it goes, but at least for now, I’ll call it mission accomplished.
